Encore: Tell us about how you became part of the tour.

Casey: I think that’s the mystery of all mysteries. When I got the call I was like, "Are you sure this is for me?" We are talking about really established Gospel artists, it's really grace in motion that I’m able to tour with them.

Encore: Your song, "Fill Me Up," was such a huge success, give us some insight into how it shaped your career.

Casey: I used to be an elementary school teacher, I didn’t have any intention of being in the Gospel industry or making music. I was introduced to that song at a worship conference that my church does. So, we just decided to record it, I didn’t really have any big expectations. I think what God did was allow a promise he has spoken over my life to come into fruition because of my obedience. It was definitely a faith move.

Encore: Talk to us about what certain qualities and attributes you think a Gospel artist needs today.

Casey: What really separates a really great talent and being able to have longevity in the Gospel community is the authenticity. I think that the ears of young people are geared to that. We were made by a creator, so there’s no way creativity is not in our DNA. We come from a God who made an entire universe, but I think creativity has to be partnered with a calling and a passion for what you’re doing. I think that combination can help an artist be successful in Gospel music.

Encore: How do you want people to feel after experiencing the tour?

Casey: Our message is that people’s lives are being changed and coming into the knowledge of Christ. So, my expectation is I don’t know how they got the ticket, but I want them to run into the door and run smack into the love of God and have there lives changed. That’s always my dream, hope and prayer.

Encore: How do you want people to feel after experiencing the tour?

Casey: One thing I really enjoy about Fred is that he’s passionate and you can see that when we have conference calls and meetings. There’s a genuine passion to take the music we love and expose people to it at such a high level. Learning how to function at that level is admirable to me.
